My favorite bars are 16" rise apehangers. I find that they put me in the optimal seat/bar/footpeg comfort zone, and they didn't cause me any handling problems. They do however take a god bit of getting used to, and unless you are 6 foot lus in height, 8-12 inch rise are safer to learn with.
Low bars SUCK.
